About

HAHVA GALLAGHER
MSW, LICSW

I have more than 15 years of experience working with children, teens, families, adults and parents on a wide variety of issues to address a broad spectrum of challenges. My approach is warm, action-oriented, and collaborative. I recently moved from San Francisco, where I worked in community mental health, university, and high school settings and in my own private practice. In Washington DC, where I currently reside, I maintain a private practice consisting of therapy, Parent Coordination, Custody Plans and Collaborative Divorce Coaching.

With children and teens, I specialize in play and art therapy combined with behavioral techniques and mindfulness. I believe in working closely with the family system and have helped many parents to understand and meet their child’s unique needs.

With adult clients in individual therapy, I help people slow down and connect to their inner thoughts and feelings while also offering concrete tools for daily life. I work well with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship challenges and issues at work school. No matter what the age or circumstance of my clients, I create space for an authentic therapeutic connection that leads to change and growth.

I received my BA from the University of Georgia and my MSW from the University of California, Berkeley. I am a Licensed Social Worker in the District of Columbia. I have been trained in multiple clinical modalities, parent coordination and parenting plans, as well as mediation. I serve on the board of Washington DCs association for Collaborative Divorce Professionals. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Emotional Focused Individual Therapy.

When I am not seeing clients, I am spending time with my family and striving for a healthy lifestyle.
